Chris Schapman started obstacle racing in 2013 when he ran the inaugural Mud, Guts, and Glory (MGG) race. Before MGG, Chris was “racing” Tough Mudders to see how quickly he could finish. However, after finishing (a distant) second in both of MGG’s 2013 races to Junyong Pak, Chris thought he’d give Spartan Race a try. He placed 8th in the elite waves at both the Carolinas Beast and the Dallas Beast in 2013.

In 2014, Chris focused on increasing his training, which included obstacle-specific training and more trail running and racing. The focus paid off. Besides his 14th place finish at the Spartan World Championships in Vermont, Chris hasn’t placed lower than 8th in the other Spartan races. And, most recently, he placed 2nd at the Dallas Beast. Locally, Chris won a winter trail race series, placed 3rd at MGG’s 2014 events, and competed in OCR Warrior.

When not working or training, Chris spends time with his wife, Sara, and three sons, Andrew (8), Michael (5), and Joseph (2). (Andrew and Michael are three time Junior Spartans!) They live in Mason, Ohio.

Chris Schapman is #relentless.
